How Coronavirus affects our services - Keeping our customers informed!

 
 
 

Firstly, we hope you are all keeping well and coping the best you can under the current public health situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic - it certainly is a very worrying time for everyone worldwide.

Our main priority at JGS4X4 is the health and welfare of our staff and their families. We are doing everything possible to keep ourselves and the JGS4X4 team fit, well and healthy. This includes strict sanitisation and regular cleaning throughout the day. We are admittedly going over the top but we feel it is much better to be over-cautious!

03/12/2020 - Update

We are getting reports of some delays to Royal Mail parcels in the last 2-3 weeks. Please do upgrade and pay just a little extra at the checkout for Express delivery, it is worth it!

Overseas parcels - Europe all OK

DPD and Parcelforce are managing very well considering huge increase in the volume of parcel's that they are handling. There are the odd occasional delay as expected. We still cannot and do not guarantee any next day or two day services although Express parcels are taking priority.

Please make sure not to put your delivery address as a business address that is closed all or some of the time, parcels will be returned to us after two delivery attempts.

Our workshop and trade counter remain closed, we are strictly mail order only. Please respect this.

05/11/2020 - Lockdown 2!

Today we see the start of a 4 week lockdown in the UK. Here at JGS4x4 we remain open strictly as a mail order only business, the workshop and sales counter remain closed.

We are experiencing the odd issue with stock availability but most items are still readily available from our suppliers.

DPD and Parcelforce are continuing to deliver in a timely manner, over 80% of parcel are being delivered within 1-2 working days in the UK.

Royal Mail continue to experience some delays, we recommend that you upgrade your order delivery to Express courier delivery to avoid any problems with Royal Mail.

Whilst next day and Saturday deliveries take priority, they are not guaranteed timed deliveries, please be patient.

10/05/2020 - Update

We are pleased to report that since we have swapped most small parcel deliveries away from Royal Mail, deliveries are much better. 80% of orders are being delivered the next day. Our cut off time does vary from day to day depending on how busy we are and what time the couriers collect from us. We are not able to guarantee any next day deliveries.

Australia, New Zealand, UAE and all other Rest Of World Countries - VERY LONG DELAYS at customs means there WILL be considerable delays. We have considered removing these countries, please only order if you accept there will be LONG delays.

29/04/2020 - Update

UK deliveries are mostly OK, only some minor delays in some areas.

EU Shipping might take 2-4 days longer to some countries.

Australia, New Zealand, UAE - Severe delays are reported and will be ongoing for several weeks. Expect 2-3 weeks extra.

22/04/2020 - Update

We do recommend that even for smaller order, you choose and upgrade your delivery at the checkout to avoid delays and disappointment. For some Scottish Highlands, Islands, Northern Ireland and other areas this is not possible so we will continue to use Royal Mail.

22/04/2020 - Update

21/04/2020 - Update

We are getting an increasing number of problems with Royal Mail deliveries, We are getting reports of delays of 7-10 days or more with Royal Mail48 and Royal Mail Tracked48 services. There are also some reports of delays with Tracked24 deliveries too. We are trying to divert as many parcels as possible to other services such as Parcelforce and DPD where cost effective and possible. If you are still waiting for an order posted between the 13th and 1th April, please be patient, your parcel is not lost but in the huge backlog of parcels that Royal Mail is trying to process into their system.

20/04/2020 - Update

Parcelforce has suspended their 'Large' delivery services so are no longer collecting or delivering 'Large' items. This means that at the moment we cannot accept orders for any large items over 1.5 metres long. We have removed most affected items from sale on the JGS4x4 website but there may be some we have missed. Affected items would be bumpers, roof bars, side sills etc.

16/04/2020 - Update

Royal Mail delivery problems. We are getting reports that some Royal Mail second class post is taking a long time to be delivered, Royal Mail are struggling with a huge back log of parcels throughout the country. Please consider upgrading to courier delivery or Royal Mail Tracked24 if you require your order quickly.

We have suspended the Saturday delivery option from our website, too many people are ordering and choosing Saturday delivery but not realising that this service is no longer a guaranteed timed service.

Apart from that we are managing OK and getting most website orders dispatched on time. We are struggling on Mondays and Tuesday due to the huge volume of orders, please be patient, if you are urgent, consider choosing next day delivery at the checkout, although not guaranteed, these orders are taking priority.

08/04/2020 - Update

We are still shipping out orders although with the long Easter weekend coming, we will not be dispatching orders on Friday 10th or Monday 13th because of the Bank Holidays.

DPD and Parcelforce are still delivering without any major problems or delays in the UK, shipping to some parts of Europe may take a day or two extra.

Royal Mail are struggling and some deliveries are experiencing some long delays, please upgrade your delivery option at the checkout if you are particularity urgent for your order, although timed deliveries are no longer guaranteed, they are taking priority.

We are still open but business is far from normal! Please be polite and courteous when contacting us. I know some of you want to come and collect from our store but we are strictly closed to the public for yours and our health. It is not worth the risk to anybody's health to collect non essential vehicle parts. There is no need to be rude and aggressive on the phone, please respect our decision to protect our staff so we can continue to supply many customers by mail order.

We are starting to see stock availability issues from some suppliers for some items, wherever possible we will try and source products from other suppliers to keep our shelves stocked.

02/04/2020 - Update

A few customers have phoned or asked if they can come and collect from our shop or book in a service in the workshop. We are still operating but strictly mail order only. The trade counter and workshop remains closed.

When ordering, please do not choose to have your order delivered to a work or business address if that business is closed or opening reduced hours. The couriers will simply return the parcel to us at extra cost, they will no longer re-attempt delivery or hold the parcel until collected.

Click and collect from your local convenience store or collection point has been suspended by DPD and Parcelforce.

27/03/2020 - Update

We are still operating but strictly mail order only.

We have a very small family team working in the warehouse picking and packing orders.

All couriers collecting daily although delivery times are no longer guaranteed. Next day deliveries will take priority but are not guaranteed to be delivered next day.

Customer support is still active between 8am and 5pm via email or live chat on the website.

Stock levels are good, so if we are showing stock on our website, we have it in stock and will be able to ship your order.

25/03/2020 - Update

The latest Government advice is that online businesses like JGS4x4 can continue to operate and are encouraged to stay open. However all couriers including DPD, parcelforce and Royal Mail are under extreme pressure with the increase in parcel deliveries, please be patient and kind to delivery drivers. You will not be asked or expected to sign for deliveries, please give delivery drivers space and do not approach them.

We are still operating but strictly mail order only. Our trade counter, shop and workshop remain closed. Please respect this for the health and safety of the JGS4x4 team and please do not come to us to try and buy anything or collect anything, we have to be very strict.

We have a smaller team working in the warehouse and we are still having daily courier collections although delivery times are no longer guaranteed. Next day deliveries will take priority but are not guaranteed to be delivered next day.

Trade Counter: Closed until further noticed

We have taken the very tough decision to close our trade counter and postpone any workshop jobs, to minimise the direct contact and exposure. However, this is also, partially to enable us to keep the mail-order section of the business running smoothly and efficiently. This is the area where JGS4x4 excels, and the businesses main 'bread and butter'.

Mail Order: OPEN

The mail-order business is still running at full capacity. Our warehouse is still fully stocked and we are getting daily deliveries from suppliers and collections from couriers. Currently, we have more staff manning the phones ready to take orders on 01536 647577, please have any part numbers that you need to order handy when calling through your order.

Don't forget any orders over £60 are postage FREE for the majority of the UK!

Staff Health

We are pleased to say that none of our staff, team members or families have Coronavirus and like everybody else we are doing our absolute best to prevent contracting or spreading the disease.

Stock Deliveries

At the moment all of our main suppliers still have plenty of stock of most products. We did start to see a few items that are sourced from China go out of stock in early March. These are likely to remain unavailable for several months. We do foresee that more and more items will become unavailable over the next few weeks and months. This is due to manufacturing, supply chain and delivery issues as the pandemic affects every aspect of our lives, businesses, and society as we know it!

It is hard to predict which items and types of products this will be. Where possible JGS4X4 has increased our stock holding of popular and essential products. If, and when we run out of stock of some products we may have to source products from different suppliers.


 

Courier Deliveries

JGS4x4 use Royal Mail, DPD and Parcelforce for our mail order deliveries. Parcels are still being collected and delivered daily to our customers. However, there is an enormous strain on the delivery companies and drivers at this current time, resulting in some delays to some customers.

Timed delivery guarantees have been suspended. This means that if we send your parcel by Next day delivery, it is likely that it will arrive the next day, but it is NOT GUARANTEED.

Next day delivery services will still take priority over standard and economy services but we cannot categorically assure you that your order will arrive the next day. As this is out of our control we will not be able to refund you for any delivery charges if the parcel does not arrive within the expected time frame.

This applies to all deliveries, including all couriers and Royal Mail postal deliveries and Saturday deliveries.

Signed Deliveries

Tracked deliveries will still be tracked but the delivering couriers or postal services will NOT ask you to sign their scanners, they will keep their distance and ask for your name and record the delivery at your address.


Product Prices

It has come as a great shock to us that a few of our suppliers have increased the prices quite considerably on just a handful of popular parts and items. Where possible JGS4x4 are looking at re-sourcing these products from different suppliers but where we cannot, we have no option but to either stop stocking these products or increase our selling prices accordingly. At the moment there are only a handful of products affected and it is not a great concern for the time being.

At this time we are unsure why our suppliers have imposed these price increases. It could be that they have legitimately seen prices increases themselves through the supply chain, they might be responding to supply and demand or they might just be greedy!
