Capacities are approximate and may vary with engine, gearbox, differential type, component version, model year, modification and the amount of lubricant retained during draining. Always confirm the correct specification, filling procedure and final level for the exact vehicle.

Discovery 2 Power Steering and ACE Fluid

Discovery 2 power-steering and Active Cornering Enhancement systems use the special cold-climate hydraulic fluid specified under part number STC50519. Do not substitute ordinary ATF, brake fluid or generic hydraulic oil.

DPF warning: the oil specification for a diesel engine with a particulate filter differs from some vehicles without one.

Discovery 5 Recommended Oils and Lubricants

Discovery 5 engine specifications changed as Ingenium and mild-hybrid engines were introduced.

Other fluid information

System	Guidance
Brake fluid	Discovery 1 and 2 generally use DOT 4. Later vehicles may specify low-viscosity DOT 4 meeting ISO 4925 Class 6.
Cold-climate power-steering and ACE fluid	Land Rover part number STC50519 is used in several Land Rover hydraulic systems. On Discovery 2 it is used for power steering and Active Cornering Enhancement. On Discovery 3 and Discovery 4 it is used for the hydraulic power-steering system. View STC50519 fluid .
Other power-steering systems	Discovery 1 applications may use ATF or another fluid according to the exact steering system. Discovery 5 uses electric power-assisted steering and does not have a conventional hydraulic steering-fluid reservoir.
Engine coolant	Use coolant meeting the exact specification stated for the vehicle. Do not identify coolant only by colour.
Propshaft grease	Use NLGI 2 multipurpose lithium grease where greasable universal joints or sliding splines are fitted.
Diesel exhaust fluid	Later diesel models with SCR use diesel exhaust fluid meeting ISO 22241.
Screenwash	Use automotive screenwash suitable for the expected temperature.
