Your Land Rover is fitted with an engine air filter to prevent abrasive particles from entering the engine's cylinders, where it would cause mechanical wear and oil contamination. Most modern Land Rover engines use a flat panel or cylindrical shaped pleated paper air filter element. This air filter is mounted inside a plastic box connected to the throttle body or turbo inlet by ducting or hoses.
