Description
The LHG100580 crankshaft pulley and vibration damper is designed for Land Rover Defender and Discovery 2 models fitted with the Td5 diesel engine. It combines the auxiliary drive belt pulley with a bonded rubber harmonic damper to help reduce engine vibration and protect the crankshaft from torsional stresses.
Over time the bonded rubber section of the pulley can deteriorate due to age, heat and engine load. Common symptoms include squealing or misaligned auxiliary belts, vibration from the front of the engine, knocking noises or, in severe cases, the outer pulley separating from the hub. Replacing a worn crankshaft damper helps maintain smooth engine operation and prevents potential damage to the auxiliary drive system.
