The brake master cylinder is used in your Land Rover to transfer the movement of the brake pedal from the driver's foot via the hydraulic fluid to the movement of the pistons in the brake cylinders or brake calipers. This pushes the brake shoes against the brake drums or squeezes the brake pads against the brake discs to create friction. A faulty or leaking brake master cylinder can cause brake failure.
