Fuel Injector Harness and Rocker Cover Gasket for Discovery 2 Td5 15P

This fuel injector harness and rocker cover gasket kit is designed for the later Td5 15P engine fitted to Discovery 2 models. It includes the internal injector wiring loom and rocker cover gasket together in one convenient kit, making it easier to carry out this common Td5 repair.

The Td5 injector harness is fitted inside the rocker cover and is commonly known as a wet loom because it runs in engine oil. Over time, oil can travel through the wiring and contaminate the engine wiring loom and ECU connector, which can cause misfires, rough running and poor engine performance.

Replacing the injector harness and rocker cover gasket together helps restore reliable engine operation and reduces the risk of further oil contamination in the wiring.

Complete repair kit

This kit combines the two parts normally replaced during this repair:

• Fuel injector harness (internal injector loom)
• Rocker cover gasket

Replacing both parts together saves time during installation and helps ensure a proper seal when refitting the rocker cover.

Common Td5 injector harness symptoms

A failing Td5 injector harness can cause a range of common running faults including:

• Engine misfire or rough running
• Oil contamination in the ECU red connector plug
• Intermittent hesitation or uneven performance
• Poor starting or uneven idle
• Engine management warning lights

Replacing the internal injector loom is often the recommended repair when oil is found in the wiring or ECU connector.

Td5 oil in ECU red plug fix

One of the most common Td5 problems is engine oil appearing in the ECU red plug. This happens when oil travels through the injector harness wiring from inside the rocker cover and reaches the engine wiring loom and ECU connector.

Replacing the injector harness is the normal repair when this occurs. After fitting the new harness, the ECU connector and external wiring should be cleaned to remove any oil contamination.

Please note: Td5 engines use two different rocker cover gasket types. This kit is suitable for later Discovery 2 Td5 models with the 15P engine.

If you are replacing the injector harness due to oil contamination, it is also good practice to inspect and clean any oil from the external engine wiring loom and ECU plug.
