Range Rover Evoque information, history and specifcations
In 2011 Land Rover launched the all-new Range Rover Evoque. The dynamic and compact cross-coupe luxury SUV brought a completely fresh look to the classic Range Rover design and cleverly badged as a Range Rover for maximum marketing appeal.
Its coupe-like silhouette captured hearts all over the world and subsequently received a whopping 217 international awards.
Three engine options were initially available for the Range Rover Evoque, a 2.2-litre 145bhp turbo diesel engine, a 2.2-litre 187bhp turbo diesel engine and a 2.0-litre 237bhp turbocharged petrol engine. When launched the Evoque was equipped with a 9-Speed automatic gearbox, with first gear designed specifically for off-roading and towing.
Since launching, Land Rover developed their own branded engine, the Ingenium to adhere to EU6 emission regulations. There were 2.0-litre variations available that included the eD4 148bhp turbo diesel two-wheel drive that came with a manual gearbox and the TD4 178bhp permeant four-wheel-drive that came with a 9-speed transmission.
The Evoque also came with Terrain Response as standard, Roll Stability, Electric Stability and Traction Control, with the option of Hill Descent Control as an extra, all to add to the Evoque’s off-roading capabilities.
Coming to the market as a 3-door Evoque Coupe and a 5-door Evoque, Land Rover offered different trim levels starting with the base model trim known as the ‘Pure’, to the most luxurious trim package known as the ‘Dynamic Lux’ that included a different front fascia and lower suspension.
In 2017, a new Convertible Range Rover Evoque was released, in both 3-door and 5-door versions. With a second generation of the Range Rover Evoque launched in 2018, enhancing the design as part of a refresh while still retaining the Evoque’s distinctive features. The refresh incorporated new styling of the door handles and added a new infotainment system to the vehicle.
