The airflow sensor is also known as a Mass or MAF sensor and measures the volume of air entering your Land Rover's engine. A failed airflow sensor may present no noticeable symptoms during everyday driving of your Land Rover, but the engine management system relies heavily on the data it receives from this sensor to maintain optimum efficiency and performance. Common symptoms of a faulty air flow sensor are for the engine to idle erratically and run less efficiently, using more fuel and emitting more pollutants. A defective airflow sensor may not always cause the engine management light to come on, but a diagnostic code reader should show any faults.
