Discovery 1
The original Discovery, identifiable by its angular body, stepped roof and rear alpine windows. The range includes 200Tdi, 300Tdi and V8 petrol models.

The second-generation Discovery retains the stepped roof but has a longer rear body and distinctive tall rear lights. Available with Td5 diesel and V8 petrol engines.

The registration year is usually the quickest way to identify the correct Discovery generation, but vehicles registered close to a model change can overlap. Discovery 3 and Discovery 4 also share the L319 platform code, despite being treated as separate models for parts selection.
