Freelander 1
The original Freelander was available as a three-door or five-door model, with early and facelift body styles. Engine choices included 1.8 petrol, 2.5 V6 petrol, early diesel and later Td4 diesel versions.
Freelander 2
The second-generation Freelander is a larger five-door model with a completely different platform and more modern mechanical and electrical systems. Popular versions include Td4, eD4 and SD4 diesel models.
Not Sure Which Freelander You Have?
The Freelander 1 and Freelander 2 are easy to distinguish visually, but their production years overlap during 2006. A 2006 registration alone is therefore not always enough to identify the correct generation.
The Freelander 1 has a more compact body and was offered in three-door and five-door forms. The Freelander 2 is a larger five-door vehicle with a more modern, square-edged body. Check the model code, body style, engine and VIN where necessary before ordering.
