Automatic gearbox easy-change transmission filter conversion kit for Range Rover L322 models fitted with the ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Land Rover originally described these automatic gearboxes as “sealed for life”, however over time transmission fluid degradation can lead to symptoms such as gearbox judder, slipping, noise and poor gear change quality.
ZF, the gearbox manufacturer, recommends replacing the automatic transmission fluid and filter approximately every 50,000 to 75,000 miles to maintain smooth shifting and long-term gearbox reliability.
From the factory the transmission sump and filter are combined into a single plastic unit. Removing the original sump can be time-consuming because clearance is limited and may require loosening engine mounts or exhaust components.
This easy-change transmission filter kit converts the original design to a metal sump pan with a separate replaceable transmission filter. This makes installation easier and simplifies future gearbox servicing.
The upgraded steel sump pan also provides improved durability compared with the original plastic sump assembly.
Kit contains:
- 1 x Easy-change metal sump pan with replaceable transmission filter
- 1 x Replacement sump gasket
- 1 x Set of new fixing bolts
Installation overview:
- Drain the automatic transmission fluid.
- Remove the original plastic sump and integrated filter.
- Cut the original filter tube to allow removal of the sump.
- Install the new separate transmission filter.
- Fit the metal sump pan using the supplied gasket and bolts.
- Refill the transmission with the correct specification automatic transmission fluid.
Approximately 7 litres of transmission fluid are typically required for a standard gearbox service.
Suitable for vehicles fitted with the ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox (including 6HP26 and 6HP28 variants).
