Description

Handbrake brake shoe expander for Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic models with rod-operated transmission handbrake systems.

This expander mechanism is a key component of the transmission-mounted handbrake assembly. It converts the movement from the handbrake linkage into outward force, pushing the brake shoes against the drum to hold the vehicle securely when parked.

Over time the expander can seize, wear or become less effective, leading to reduced handbrake performance, uneven braking or difficulty achieving correct adjustment. Replacing the expander helps restore smooth and reliable handbrake operation.

Important:
This part is suitable for vehicles with rod-operated transmission handbrake systems. It is not suitable for later cable-operated setups.
