Handbrake brake shoe set for Defender and Discovery 1 models with rod-operated transmission handbrake systems.
This brake shoe set is designed for the transmission-mounted handbrake fitted to early Land Rover Defender and Discovery 1 models. These vehicles use a drum brake mounted on the transfer box, operated via a rod linkage rather than a direct cable system.
Over time, handbrake shoes can wear, become contaminated with oil, or lose effectiveness, resulting in reduced holding ability or excessive travel. Replacing the brake shoes helps restore proper handbrake performance and vehicle security when parked.
Important:
This kit is only suitable for vehicles with rod-operated handbrake linkage. Later models with cable-operated handbrake systems require a different type of brake shoe.
