Series 3, 1971-1985

POSITION: Right
Track rod ends are a type of ball joint used to connect steering components to allow smooth movement as the wheels travel over undulations and the front wheels turn for steering. Over time these ball joints can wear out or the protective rubber boot gets damaged, particularly on Land Rovers that have a lot of off-road use. This is noticeable as knocks and bangs from the steering and vague or wandering steering especially under braking. Track rod end ball joints are often handed.
