Description
OEM quality automatic transmission filter conversion kit for vehicles fitted with the ZF 6HP26 6-speed automatic gearbox.
This transmission service kit converts the original one-piece plastic transmission sump and integrated filter assembly to a steel sump pan with a separate replaceable transmission filter. The original design combines the sump and filter into a single unit, making routine servicing more complicated and expensive.
On factory vehicles the plastic sump and filter are moulded together and removal often requires lifting the engine slightly or loosening mounts to clear the large filter neck. This conversion kit allows the original sump to be removed and replaced with a steel sump pan and separate filter, making both installation and future servicing significantly easier.
Once installed, future automatic transmission services are much simpler as the filter can be replaced independently without removing the sump assembly.
Regular transmission servicing helps maintain smooth gear changes and can reduce common symptoms such as gearbox judder, hesitation or harsh shifting.
ZF recommend automatic transmission fluid and filter changes at approximately 50,000 to 75,000 miles to maintain optimum gearbox performance.
Installation overview:
- Drain the automatic transmission fluid
- Remove the original plastic sump and integrated filter
- Cut the original filter neck to allow removal of the sump
- Install the new separate transmission filter
- Fit the steel sump pan using the supplied gasket and bolts
- Refill the transmission with the correct specification automatic transmission fluid
The steel sump pan included in this kit provides improved durability compared with the original plastic sump (LR007474).
Approximately 7 litres of automatic transmission fluid are typically required for a routine service.
