When Even Land Rover’s Computers Break Down – The JLR Cyber Attack
If you’ve been trying to order a brand-new Land Rover lately, you might have noticed a bit of a hiccup. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has recently been hit by a major cyber attack that’s causing chaos behind the scenes. Production has slowed, new car deliveries are being delayed, and even dealers are struggling to get parts through the usual systems.
Yes, you read that right – Land Rover’s biggest breakdown this month wasn’t mechanical, it was digital.
What’s Going On?
The attack has affected JLR’s IT infrastructure worldwide. Their ordering systems, communications, and all-important Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC) are down. That means dealers can’t easily identify or order the Genuine parts they need.
For those of us in the independent Land Rover parts world, this has knock-on effects too. Here at JGS4x4, we rely on the EPC to confirm the latest part numbers and applications. With it offline, we’ve had to dust off our backup methods (no, not Haynes manuals and a torch – though don’t tempt us!).
How Does This Affect You?
New Cars: If you were planning to take delivery of a shiny new Defender or Range Rover, you may have to wait a little longer.
Vehicle Production: Some factories are slowing down while systems are restored.
Parts Ordering: Dealers (and suppliers like us) can’t currently order Genuine Land Rover parts directly from JLR.
What About JGS4x4?
Here’s the good news: we’ve got you covered.
While JLR’s IT team battles the gremlins, we still have tens of thousands of Land Rover parts in stock – ready to ship. That includes a huge range of OEM, aftermarket, and Genuine parts already on our shelves.
So if your Land Rover is living up to its reputation and decides today is the day to spring a leak, rattle, or throw up a warning light, don’t panic. We can still supply the bits you need to keep it running – without you having to wait for JLR to get their servers back online.
A Little Irony
Let’s be honest, Land Rover owners are no strangers to “unplanned downtime.” Normally, it’s the vehicles themselves that leave you stranded. This time, it’s the company’s computers! At least this breakdown doesn’t involve calling the AA.
In Summary
JLR has been hit by a cyber attack.
Vehicle production, new car sales, and parts ordering are affected.
The EPC system is offline, so Genuine parts orders are on hold.
But JGS4x4 has 10,000s of Land Rover parts in stock, ready to ship every day.
So while JLR’s IT department is busy finding the CTRL + ALT + DELETE button, you can rely on us to keep your Land Rover on the road.
